The West Coast Arborists invited Sunburst Cadets to participate in AMPlifying the Urban Forest, an urban tree-planting event held on March 12, 2022 at Progress Park Plaza in the city of Paramount. The event was hosted by California Urban Forest Council (CaUFC), West Coast Arborists (WCA), Taylor Guitars and the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture.

“Our city trees are a vital part of what makes Paramount a great place to be,” said Paramount Mayor Brenda Olmos. “AMPlifying the Urban Forest will bring the community together to add to our developing urban canopy, and make Paramount a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable place to live.”

Sunburst cadets joined dozens of community volunteers and event partners to plant trees, learn how trees contribute to community wellness as well as how to maintain the newly-planted trees through their life cycles.

Cadets from Chargers and Panthers platoons planted over 150 trees in two parks within the city of Paramount. The event’s effect will benefit the residents of Paramount by enhancing air quality, abating pollution, offsetting carbon emissions, mitigating heat, and lessening the effects of severe weather.
