West Los Angeles County Council of Scouts
The West Los Angeles County Council of Scouts knows that the building blocks of a civil society and the key to individual success in life is found in the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. The Boy Scouts use basic life skills and life lessons in a participatory and active program to teach young people the importance of character development, citizenship and personal fitness. The Scouts approach to programming parallels the same principles the National Youth ChalleNGe program stands behind. This camaraderie provides a natural partnership between the Boy Scouts of America and the California Challenge Foundation. For the past four years the WLACC and our foundation have partnered to provide an overnight camping experience for Sunburst Youth Academy cadets at Camp Emerald Bay on Catalina Island. Also, Sunburst’s Color Guard has had the esteemed honor of performing at the annual flag placement ceremony at the Los Angeles National Cemetery, which is hosted by the WLACC.
